Bihu Festival Time in Assam : January, April, October.
Festival Bihus of Assam State : -
In Assam State; total of three Bihus been celebrated every year. In the middle of January (Assamese month Maagh), in the middle of October (Assamese month Kartik) and in the month of April (Assamese month Baisakh) – these three Bihu festival of Assam have been celebrated with a distinctive phase in farming calendar of Assam since ancient ages.
Bohaag Bihu or Rongali Bihu of Assam :-
Bohaag Bihu of Assam (Rangoli Bihu of Assam) is the most colorful and important of all three Bihu Festival. Time of Bohaag Bihu in Assam is in the middle of April in English calendar and in the month of Baisakh in Asamiyan Calendar. Rangoli Bihu / Bohaag Bihu celebrated in the New Year of Assamese Calendar and at the advent of seeding season (beginning of agricultural season). The other names of ‘Bohaag Bihu in Assam’ are ‘Rongaali Bihu in Assam’, ‘Festival of Merriment in Assam’ and also ‘Spring Festival of Assam’.
Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu in Assam: -
Bhogali Bihu of Assam is also known as Magh Bihu in Assam and also popular as Harvesting Festival of Assam. Bhogali Bihu in Assam celebrated in the month of January though buffalo fight, community feast and other entertainment. Bhogaali Bihu in Assam (Maagh Bihu of Assam) means the end of harvesting period of Assam and famous as the Assam Festival of Food.
Kati Bihu or Kongaali Bihu of Assam : -
Kati Bihu is also known as Kongaali Bihu of Assam is the Festival of the poor Assamese and been celebrated in the month of October (Kartick month in Assamese Calendar), which confirms the completion of transplanting and sowing of paddies in Assam
